The TIMEX STANDARD CHRONOGRAPH TW2T21100 41MM is a pretty unique watch compared to other chronographs available by Timex. The uniqueness, in my opinion, lies in the design. It all starts with the colour – just black with silver makes this looking pretty classy I say with a little bit of executive feel to it. Then, there is the onion crown which reminds me of the ones you would probably see in some high-end pilot watches like IWC. The crown is polished as well the pushers, giving the watch a touch of simple luxury, of course not that of a high level but this really alleviates all the boring-ness from the watch should it go by the typical chronographs at affordable prices.
What’s even better is the numerals are in Arabic and green in colour. There is no lume to it though (okay, there is a debate between me and a co-worker, saying there is lume in the numeral markers) but the colour really complements well with the black dial and that silver tone colour. To top this off, the hour, minute and second hands are in silver (still entirely legible) so the overall package just so pleasing to see and from afar, it does have that Glashütte Original Senator feel to it. There is also a date window at 4 o’clock position.
Don’t flame me because not everyone can afford a Glashütte Original Senator – what I mean is that you can still look great in wrist watches of this range, whether if you are on a budget or a financially-savvy person.
Just look past the Quartz movement. It’s not automatic I know but think of it, quartz movement does not require you to wind before you wear. It’s a watch you can just wear and go on a busy work day. The chronograph also works on quartz so do expect that when you wear this watch. I’m not going to touch on the time measurement on this chronograph because let’s face it, we don’t really use the function. Right?
Behind is a closed casebook made of stainless steel, with “Timex” logo stamped on it. I feel it’s not subpar at all. Water resistance is at 30m so definitely some light water splashing from hand washing or rain are okay but no swimming.
The watch is light, nothing you would expect from higher end chronographs like Seiko’s or that Longines Big Eye. I wore this and definitely feel easy on the wrist. The 11mm thickness, in my estimate because I wore this with T-shirts, should go easily under the sleeve of your T-shirt. Another point to note, even though the diameter measures 41mm, it looks like a 39-40mm instead on my 16.25 cm wrist. Lugs are rather on the short side so that probably is why it doesn’t look humongous on my small wrist. I’ll say I really enjoy wearing this watch.
Here’s the best part I like about this watch which I was unaware of when I bought it. It has ILLUMINATION!!
Timex called this Indiglo Night Light and you can tell the time in the dark like a Casio Illuminator watch…and mind you, this is a dress watch!! How cool is that! In my time spent in watches, this is very good because it runs on battery and basically it functions really like a digital watch. Wearing this watch, I can still look good in formal outfits without worrying about “how long the lume on my watch lasts”! Oh yes in case you are wondering now, it is totally legible not hard to read at all.
I did a change to the leather strap to make it look more like a Glashütte Original Senator because the original leather strap is really boring to the max. I just had to.

Overall, this TIMEX STANDARD CHRONOGRAPH TW2T21100 41MM sure won my heart for many reasons – the looks, the weight, the Indigo night light function, being a Quartz, very visible markers and the price, I feel this watch beats Japanese brands like Seiko or Citizen in this price range in many aspects. Further more not to mention, it fits well on small wrists despite the paper diameter of 41mm and with a modest thickness of just 11mm making this a very practical dress watch, an all-rounder (of course you cannot go swimming with this) but least it’s a watch you do not have to worry about lume brightness, winding or servicing.
Definitely a watch to consider if you are looking for the most, in my opinion, practical dress watch I’ve came across.
