The ORIENT RA-AK0508S TRI-STAR ALTAIR AUTOMATIC MEN’S WATCH is by far the most special watch in almost all of Orient’s dress watch series. In case you are wondering about Orient 3-Stars, they have a history behind this. To cut story short and straight to the point, the 3 stars stands for good design, good quality and competitive price. They are designed in such a way they are expected to last many years of daily use and like the other Orient models, the movement is in-house and good at their job keeping time accurately.

Featuring here is hour, minute, second, day, date hands as well as the Roman markers in gold-tone against as silver dial. Despite these colours to be on the shiny (or bling if you wanna call it) side, looking at the time is not difficult at all not to mention the day and date. In the middle at the 1-2 o’clock position is the Orient logo with the 3 stars which is also in gold tone.

The casing is stainless steel, polished and mineral crystal. These, along with the gold-tone colours, makes this watch looking classy and to my surprise not cheap at all. Okay, there is a part where it does feel cheap (but not a major problem, not something everyone can see or rather hear) and that is the rotor. It’s not loud that people can hear while you are on the bus or train. Otherwise, I don’t see any other cons to this watch.

Strap’s not the original strap because it’s replaced with black colour instead over the brown. Since the watch is hardly worn, it’s still hasn’t been broken into. Black is a better colour to complement with silver, giving it a JLC kind of feel from afar.

Wearing this watch can’t be any more comfortable. With only 11.2mm thick, it definitely can slip under the sleeves of your shirt in a formal attire and with diameter at 39.5mm, it is what a dress watch should more or less be and here it fits nicely on my 16.25 cm diameter wrist.

Overall, the ORIENT RA-AK0508S TRI-STAR ALTAIR AUTOMATIC MEN’S WATCH is not a lousy watch as what most people would think of Orient as. In fact, some of their watches are just as accurate, if not more accurate, than the well-known more raved brands like Seiko or Citizen and at an affordable price.
